Innovation case study: Creating an all-in-one retail asset management platform

To develop an intuitive online platform to enable consistent retail brand experiences

Efficient retail management platforms are key to continuously evolving successful in-store activations, leading to enhanced brand experiences. Retail brands are faced with an industry-wide challenge; using outdated and inefficient ways to track store visits (Installs), document store fixtures (Planograms) and access image files (Asset Legacy). To provide maximum support for consistent brand exposure through promotion planning, an innovative, custom-built platform was required.

Adding technology to innovation in retail

Legacy planogram systems across retail are manually intensive and difficult to keep consistent, often leading to a fragmented brand experience. To address these issues and provide our clients with the promotion planning software they wanted, we went back to the drawing board. Our in-depth experience of retail POS, cutting-edge technology and strategic awareness gave us the insights to develop a brand-new approach to asset management. That solution is Consilio: a bespoke web application hosted on a UK-based managed virtualisation platform and provided as a SaaS (Software as a Service) model.

Solution

A visual, end-to-end retail merchandising platform

We wanted our clients, including Samsung and Mastercard, to be able to view, manage and monitor all aspects of their constantly changing retail implementations from a single, virtualised planogram dashboard from anywhere in the world. To achieve this, we created Consilio.

Virtualised asset management for today’s way of working

Integrating Installs, Planograms and Asset Legacy systems into a single platform delivered streamlined, accurate workflows, and delivered efficiencies across studio time and account management resources. The platform gave our clients QR code management, tracking and reporting, alongside a 3D product viewer using AR on iPhone and Android. To enhance retail asset protection, documents remain secure with unique tags and tracking of embargoed assets for individual system users.

Constant feature development through SaaS

We constantly update Consilio with advanced features, including a new notifications system, enhanced user engagement and analysis tools, and a new approach to handling microsite/toolkit files in Secure Documents. A key benefit of Consilio being a web application is that we can develop advanced features to respond directly to client needs. We are introducing a Gen AI Assistant for retail compliance management with smart tech recording fixtures in-store. This allows users to compare images with the Planogram to analyse what is and isn’t brand compliant.

Results

A continuously updated brand experience for retail consumers

Real time sharing of assets and documents in Consilio allows brands to plan for coordinated product launches across multiple regions and variants. With global logistics comes the possibility of launch details being compromised and the reputational risk that entails. With Consilio, retailers can set up secure reporting and ring-fenced responsibilities to monitor potential new product image and video leaks and protect brand reputations in real time.
